I have been married to Heidi, my best friend, since 1974. We have three
married children and three grandchildren. In our free time we enjoy being with family and friends. We also enjoy outdoor
activities where we can appreciate the beauty and design of nature. Heidi and I reside near Green Bay, Wisconsin.
I grew up with a strong interest in science and the natural world that led me to initially pursue geology in college.
Halfway through my junior year I changed my major to business. This led to a 28-year career with IBM where I learned
to apply critical thinking and systems thinking skills.
It is with this background that in my late thirties I became aware of a growing
number of problems regarding the theory of evolution that I had believed for decades. As I looked more closely at the widely
promoted evidence supporting the theory of evolution and the theory's underlying assumptions, I found serious problems.
I began to realize that the theory of evolution is not a convincing explanation for the origin of life and the wide variety
of life forms we find in our world.
My broadened
search for truth also led me to reexamine my preconceptions regarding God and the Bible. As I learned more about the Bible
I came to the realization that the Bible was far more than just a book authored by men as I originally thought it to be. I
learned, and continue to learn, that the Bible is reliable and fully trustworthy. This discovery led me at age forty to realize
that the God of the Bible is real, that I needed a Savior, and that Jesus Christ came into this world to pay the penalty for
our sins. That is when I trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord.
As I continue to read,
study, and meditate on the Bible, I continue to see overwhelming evidence showing beyond any reasonable doubt that the Bible
is truly of supernatural origin. A study of fulfilled Bible prophecy demonstrates this. A review of the manuscript evidence
shows that the Bible's content has been almost perfectly preserved from ancient times to the present. I learned that although
we are separated from the original manuscripts of the Bible by thousands of years, cultural differences, and language differences,
there is ample evidence that we have access to reliable and accurate Bibles that clearly communicate what God wants us to
know. Through the Bible God reveals to us who He really is, who we are as human beings, why this world is the way it is, and
the relationship He wants to have with each one of us.
I still have some unanswered questions regarding
what the Bible says. However, I also have unanswered questions regarding every other significant area of life. This is true
of everyone I know. What I have found to be different about the Bible is that it has never been proven to be wrong, and it
describes the realities of life far better than all other explanations that I have studied.
I currently
work with a team of men who lead Bible studies that focus on teaching the Bible and a biblical worldview. One of my favorite
quotes is from George Washington: "There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily."
